I've eaten here a few times now, and every time I leave I want I go straight back. I have yet to find something on the menu I haven't raved about (shoutout to the Tuscan breakfast!) and the same can be said about anyone I've recommended the place to. The cafe is casual and the service is great. If you're lucky enough to go during a slow time you'll probably get the chance to get to know the owners, a couple who work the cafe full time and clearly love their jobs. If you're looking for a quick, delicious bite at a reasonable fare this is the place to go.

My wife and I come here fairly often. Sometimes for food but mostly for coffee. The food they make here is really pretty great, including the baked goods at the counter (brownie!) The problem with this place is the service. I am not sure if they are understaffed or just super slow in making food and beverages. Often times we come to get something and we are told it will be 20 or 30 minutes even though no one is in line and there are 3 people eating there. Even getting a coffee can sometimes take 10 minutes or more. We like this place but just wish they were quicker. Finally, on more than one occasion we have been treated rather rudely, which if we were still in NY would be fair game. The real issue is some of the times they are rude to us but super friendly to the person who is ordering in front or behind us. Sometimes it feels like we are being an incontinence with our order. I mean we are paying you for the food/beverage and "service."

I order French toast most every breakfast. So I know a great one when I taste it, This French toast is like a fluffy egg omelet that has been delicately toasted The egg sensation going on in your mouth doesn't even recognize that it is bread This is served nicely with crisp bacon and just the right amount syrup My husband will be ordering French toast next time Owners are a delight and if you have a college student here who is lonely they will make them feel just like at home .
(5)Danielle J.
What a great locals breakfast spot! My friend was visiting from Ohio so we walked down to breakfast. Staff is vey very friendly. We both ordered the 2schae toast and loved it. We both felt full but light and we hit the museums without getting hungry until late afternoon. I'll be back to try other items on the menu!
(4)Hayley Perlis ..
Great sandwiches, especially the grilled cheese. Every time I walk past this place I get FOMO about whatever I see people eating, but I can't stop ordering that grilled cheese. APPLES AND BACON ON A GRILLED CHEESE IS LIFE CHANGING. Just do it. 2Schae loses points for service, though; to be fair, there are only two employees (the owners), but my biggest issue is that it's unpredictable. Some days I'm in and out in no time, and other days it takes twenty minutes even though I'm the only one there.

This place should meet all of your check-list if you are a student or professional looking for a place to do work while brunching! 1) People are friendly. I know we are in the mid-west, but it's extra nice here. 2) Free wifi 3) Texas Toast French Toast with fruit and WARM syrup 4) Omelets. Omelets. Omelets 5) Smoothies and Coffee (the coffee is no Blue Print, but better than some others and free refills) What to do? Order at the counter, grab a seat and they will find you. FYI - you are not allowed to eat on the couches in the back, but I would prefer to sit outside on a nice day anyways.
(4)Vicky R.
It's your neighborhood breakfast place. The staff is friendly and constantly check on your needs without being overly intruding. The place is very clean and neat . Food unfortunately is average; I spent about 16 dollars for an omelette and a coffee and even though they are not bad or anything but I feel for the quality and taste it's consider money wasted. I suggest to come here and just order something to drink if you want to get work done or read a book.
(3)Kavipriya K.
My husband and I went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and we ordered the smoked salmon omelette and french toast. They were absolutely delicious and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. the owner and whoever was cooking were very friendly and sweet. I gave only 4 stars because coffee is just not good. I mean, considering the fact that it's a breakfast place, I feel the coffee could be better.
(4)Amy S.
Great breakfast place. People working here are really nice and helpful. We had a bunch of questions and they were very patient and upbeat! Omlette was delicious! French Toast was really good, home cooked! Cinnamon role was awesome and they warmed it up for us! And free GOOD wifi Love the laid back atmosphere and the seating is awesome. They Also Have Outdoo seating, nice Place in general.
(5)Denise K.
It's a quaint place but I personally don't really understand what the hype is all about. The menu was limited and the 2 shae toast was something I could have jusr as well made it home. The inside wasn't all that impressive and neither was the seating. I will say the staff was incredibly friendly. I wish them all the best.
(3)Jen V.
I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this place! I lived in the building for 2 years while I was in optometry school and came here AT LEAST once a week to study or eat. They have amazing food and great coffee. All of their sandwiches are made to order and come with a side salad or another side. For breakfast, try their waffle, the breakfast sandwich or their huge cinnamon rolls (if they have them)! Don and Lisa are so nice and they really try to get to know their customers. The environment is so welcoming and you really feel like part of the family when you go to visit. I would 100% recommend a stop in if you are around the Central West End!
(5)Mike D.
Great neighborhood breakfast/lunch cafe. Staff is extremely friendly and helps make a fantastic atmosphere. Food is very good and fresh. Dog friendly. Nothing negative at all.
(5)Christine R.
My husband found 2Shae on Yelp this morning with my love of breakfast in the back of his mind. We came in today during a small rush and the gentleman was great at getting us sat at a table with a (heated) bench. We both got the french toast and a side of breakfast potatoes. We realized the man waiting on us was the owner when he brought us a pecan cinnamon roll on the house for taking so long, when in reality we were perfectly happy to be there and was just soaking in the quaint atmosphere. He and his staff were awesome. Food was delicious and while parking was a bit of a problem, my husband and I will return again soon!!
(5)Andrea E.
Great food and the owners are super sweet! Highly recommended!! Definitely will be returning!
(5)Zach V.
Good is solid, great little Cafe and I really like the location. Its a wonder why the western part of the central west end doesn't have more restaurant's to eat at. Service is friendly, and the menu is consistent. 2Schae wont disappoint, would highly recommended for Breakfast/Lunch/Brunch. They also have outdoor seating!
(4)Leena T.
This place was okay- nice and clean with quick service. Seemed heavier on the college/student crowd who appeared to be more loyal-goers and it was apparent why: - Free wifi - Simple and cozy - Fun cafe name (this is important) The menu options are a bit limited-- ie, wanted a bagel with veggie cream cheese (is that too specific?), and the owner seemed slightly dejected to have only been able to offer regular. Regardless, service was quick and the coffee was a good morning pick me up.
(3)Michael C.
I got the southwestern wrap with chicken added, no drink just the wrap. It was $11, so a little pricey. Also was sort of slow, took about 20+ minutes to get the food. BUT, I must say the customer service here is spectacular. Extremely nice people.
(4)Halley H.
The staff here is amaze balls!! The food is good and the environment is relaxed for you and your puppy!
(5)Jacob C.
Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere and location. The latte I ordered was definitely not a latte, more just a coffee with milk and a lot of foam. But the breakfast itself was very good. I had an omelet that was very filling and good! Service was a little slow but that's okay because it allowed time for conversation. Also would be a fantastic place to study!
(3)Courtney B.
Very cute family owned spot! I had a great breakfast there and the service was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a nice, casual breakfast with a friend or two.
(4)Michael E.
I very much enjoy this atmosphere. Good food, good service!
(5)Marilynn P.
PROS: It's a down to earth place that has a cool vibe. The owners and employees were nice and super accommodating. They have outdoor seating which is great for a nice day. CONS: I didn't think the food was stellar. The entire group I went with enjoyed their meals, but everyone mentioned how they could have easily made what they ordered at home. Inside seating area looked a little small. Overall: I'd recommend it for a casual breakfast with friends.
(3)Jake S.
Great breakfast cafe! Super friendly staff, fresh ingredients, cozy atmosphere! -- big blue burrito is a production!! Every ingredient imaginable, great flavor. Highly recommend!
(5)Anna H.
This is an adorably quaint breakfast place that I tried for the first time last weekend. I had the lox & cream cheese on an everything bagel, which I would definitely recommend. The owners were so sweet and seemed to know most people that came in. I'll be going back for sure!
(4)Justin B.
Everytime I am in town from Chicago, I always start my morning at 2schae Cafe. The couch potato and hillbilly hen omelets are phenomenal. The coffee is great too. Don and Lisa are wonderful people and make everyone feel at home. 5 stars for the breakfast and 5 stars to Don and Lisa.
(5)Jessica R.
Have eaten here twice in the last month and am so happy it's close to home! The owners are the best! So friendly and make you feel like you're at home. Food was great! I ordered the panini and it was perfect. Just the right size to keep me full late into the day. I had the hazelnut coffee and it was fabulous. We will definitely make this a regular breakfast place for our family!!
(5)Susan F.
I am thrilled this place is within walking distance of home and will be visiting again soon. It is a limited menu and there isn't anything too amazing on it but everything is tasty and cheap. If you want a laid back morning without cooking and cleaning, this is your spot. Honest, simple, cheap, good quality food in a great walk-able neighborhood.
(4)Ben S.
I wouldn't necessarily call myself a french toast connoisseur but I will say that this place has some rollicking good french toast. It was simultaneously light and fluffy yet eggs and a little crispy around the edges. The dish is served with either bacon or a sausage patty and warm syrup. I opted for the sausage and found it mild and delicious. Cut a piece of french toast, add a little piece of sausage and dunk it in the warm syrup provided and you'll have a serious explosion of everything that is right with the breakfast-eating world all in one bite. I'm not a coffee drinker but the wife was impressed and that's good enough for me to pass along that they have good coffee. Also, we saw a lot of other food being delivered and it all looked great. I will likely try one of their omelets next time around. Beautiful little place! Clearly a favorite neighborhood hangout. I'll certainly be back...
(5)Liz T.
Cool people, cool spot, nice outdoor spot but a miss on my drink. I ordered a 16oz iced latte with a little bit of caramel and some how it came to $6.50. Whoa! My jaw almost dropped. The latte was OK, but didn't knock my socks off. We didn't order food, but the menu looked good.
(3)J. K.
Nice, relaxed vibe. Speedy, efficient, business-like yet friendly service. Had lox & cream cheese on toasted poppy seed bagel...Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Decent amount of customers, but still plenty of places to sit. Don't sit on the sofas & armchairs while eating or else the owner will (nicely) ask you to move to a table. 8~D
(5)John W.
AWESOME!!!! Don & Lisa are the best! I recommend either "Big Blue" or the turkey sausage, egg, & pepperjack on sourdough Panini. Really good coffee, too. Come for the food, stay for the friendship! Don and Lisa treat their customers like part of the family! Really nice people. Down to earth.
(5)Eric S.
Very friendly service. French toast was piping hot and awesome. Service made it worthwhile. Will be back again!
(5)Lindsey W.
Ate here today for breakfast while visiting a friend. I ordered the couch potato omelette and a side of bacon. The bacon was perfectly cooked and the omelette was so good. The ham, bacon, sausage, potatos and cheese stuffed inside the eggs were a delight. I usually don't finish my omelettes and leave the extra to my hubs. Today I didn't want to give him a single bite! The friend we went with had the cinnamon pancakes and said they were the best pancakes she has had. She said the only thing to make them a little better would have been a cream cheese frosting drizzle. Will most definitely come back when we visit again!
(5)Shreya N.
I love this cafe. It was the very first cafe I went to in St. Louis. I went with my then roommate to figure out apartments and the owners were friendly and let us stay as long as we wanted. So, I guess this place is a bit sentimental for me. Today I went again with my current roommate and we enjoyed a leisurely brunch. We were met by the same friendly owners and staff who quickly served us our delicious food and continued to check on us throughout the brunch to see if we needed anything. I ordered the Southwest scramble and my roomie ordered the Fresh garden omelet. Both were delivered within 10 mins and we had bottomless coffee to replenish our caffeine withdrawals. My southwest scramble had just the right amount of sausage, onions and tomatoes drizzled with a spicy yet creamy chipotle sauce. The whole wheat toast was perfect for scooping up the scramble too. My roommates omelet was also tasty with fresh vegetables and pepper jack cheese (my favorite!). Not only is the food delicious here and the prices reasonable, the owners and staff are kind and will make you feel like you're eating breakfast with family. Not to mention they have a couched area in the back with plenty of space for studying or chatting.
(5)Rachel L.
Love the atmosphere. We had the Big Boy which was probably the greatest breakfast I have ever had. It was big enough to split, but we also ordered 2Schae toast which was yummy. My husband loved his coffee and my hot chocolate was great. Left very full and happy.
(5)Kathryn G.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm is what you'll say when you eat here. Seriously good french toast, I ate it all tehehehehe.
(5)Lindsey D.
The Schaefer's (the owners) are THE NICEST people you will ever meet. You have to go to their restaurant.
(5)A O.
The best breakfast place in saint Louis!! Such delicious and fresh meals at super affordable prices. The smoothies, omelets, and bagels are incredible but the very best part about it is the incredible, down to Earth service that Don and Lisa provide. Everything is laid out so neatly and you want to keep coming back! Definitely a must go!
(5)Aurora L.
What a fantastic place! A great space with a central open kitchen, separate dining & lounge/cafe area, adorable coffee mugs & all the things that make a place like this so unique. But the best parts by far are the owners and the food. You've got to eat a leisurely breakfast or brunch here sometime, we came on a weekday to avoid potential crowds, I'd suggest it. Bring an appetite & a smile & you'll fit right in!
(5)Lauren V.
First thing the hubs said when he drank the coffee "wow that's good". Very friendly staff and owner. Cinnamon roll is very tasty. Nice and light. Would love to give 5 stars but the hubs omlet came out wrong and didn't have the best flavor. Would recommend if you are in the neighborhood just for the warm welcome alone.
(4)Charleen S.
Great local cafe! Husband had some of the most delicious French Toast I've ever tasted and I had a delicious hazelnut coffee. We hung out for an hour watching people pass by - consequently, we got to see some of the other food they were putting out. Everything looked delicious. Really friendly service too; it was our first time here but I could hear the proprietors addressing many of the patrons by name and/or asking them about their usual orders. That's the kind of place you love to have in your neighborhood. Made me wish (for a second) that I lived nearby so I could get the "Norm" treatment :-)
(5)Randy V.
This is one place that embodies all the best qualities of independent local business. Don and Lisa (proprietors) take incredible pride in their restaurant, reflected in the quality of their amazing food, service and overall sense of place. This rare combination is what's missing from so many establishments these days. It's refreshing to know that some of that refreshing local spirit lives on at the corner of Union & Pershing. Outstanding experience!
(5)Lina H.
This seems like the perfect coffee house to get a cup of coffee and study in. And that's exactly what this place is good for: coffee. My mocha was great and my friend's latte was also great. The matcha green tea latte was a bit powdery. This is, however, not the best place for brunch. The pancakes are okay - very standard. The oatmeal is oatmeal. The bagels are fine, but how do you really mess that up? The omelets are a bit bland. You could definitely get better food and better service elsewhere. To give them some credit, it's a small place with only 2-3 people working but the man who "served" us didnt exactly give me warm and fuzzy feelings inside.
(3)John U.
The service here is excellent , the owners also work in the restaurant and their passion for running this place is obvious . Quaint outdoor patio especially nice on a warm day and I like that they had several flavors of available coffee . Of course , good was good too.
(5)Selene M.
Me and my boyfriend fell in love with this place the first time we went here! We were blown away by the French Toast and the kindness of the owners. Such an amazing and welcoming place to go. It also stays open later for breakfast than most.
(5)Richard A.
Very friendly atmosphere... Breakfast is served anytime of the day. This is also a good comfortable space to work on your laptop or tablet. I've been coming to this Café for 6 years now and I still enjoy the service of owners and staff!
(5)Adam C.
A Great Sunday brunch spot! The location is fantastic you can sit outside with your dogs and enjoy the quite neighborhood. #1 they have great breakfast!!! I think I had the best omelette I have ever eaten...NY sophisticate. Loaded with smoked salmon, capers and an amazing Dijon mustard sauce. Shannon had a tex mex omelette that was also very good. The owner is very friendly and extremely outgoing. I think he came to our table 4 times to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall a great lil place to check out for breakfast and lunch that is off the beaten path.
(5)K N.
Nice little cafe. I had the big apple which is a grilled cheese with 3 types of cheese, bacon, and apple. Service was very friendly. Had both outdoor and indoor seating. There is a very large menu with breakfast and lunch items. I did overhear someone say that parking was tough to find due to construction so just an fyi if you planned to drive.
(5)Brooke P.
Great spot for coffee, made to order sandwich and delicious fruit. The owners were exremely friendly and open. Great service and fun atmosphere.
(4)Shayma O.
An amazing place. I live just few blocks away and never thought of trying it and now i regret not trying it long time ago. I had the panini, it was so delicious. The atmosphere and the people who works their are so friendly. It will be my spot from now on for an affordable breakfast and maybe to study next semester.
(5)Christine F.
The pancakes on Saturday and Sunday are the best. THE BEST. You're able to pick out what you want in them from a list, and my go-to is apples-walnuts-cinnamon. Devin likes bananas and chocolate chips. They are huge, buttery, and fluffy, chock full of the ingredients you specify, and come out PERFECT every time. I am never able to finish an entire plate of them. They also come with a sausage patty or a cup of fruit. I get cravings for these pancakes often. If you're a fan of pancakes, you need to check them out. GO. GO NOW! Well, not now because they're on vacation this week. GO. GO NEXT WEEK!
(5)Denise D.
I have lived by this adorable little cafe for the past 3 years and drive past it almost daily, but have never actually stopped by. I finally went a couple weeks ago with a friend and totally regret not trying this place sooner. I got their french toast, and it was absolutely delicious! It was your basic, no frills, no fanciness french toast, but it was so light and fluffy, perfect amount of sweet-basically everything that I wanted in french toast. There is a patio out front and plenty of seating inside. I will definitely be frequenting this place more often for brunch. I'm only sad they aren't open late, or else I would have probably visited this place sooner and made it a study spot!
(4)Danny W.
A great spot that we frequent often. The food is excellent and the service is second to none with very personable owners.
(5)Tom M.
Great coffee shop. The owner behind the counter takes the time to learn your name and what you order. That and no matter what the temperature is outside, he is always in shorts. My wife loves the way he makes chai. Most other places give it to you so hot it will burn your mouth and you need to wait for it to cool. However 2Schae will make it at just the right drinking temp so no waiting and no burning. The French toast tastes very traditional. Just like what you imagine it should be like. The breakfast panini was also excellent.
(5)Ashley R.
2Schae Cafe is the most adorable little cafe in the CWE. It has such a welcoming vibe, in great part from the atmosphere created by the owners, Don and Lisa. They'll learn your name as soon as you walk in the door, and make you feel like family. The food is all fantastic, especially their vast selection of omelets. Yum! You won't regret a lazy Sunday brunch at 2Schae.
(5)Amy M.
Super cute place. Owner was so sweet, chatting with customers who were clearly friends when I came in, stopped to say hello and see if I was ready immediately and told me to just interrupt whenever I knew or if I had any questions. Got an iced coffee and a breakfast burrito with black beans and sun dried tomatoes - was served the iced coffee immediately and had finished about half by the time my burrito was ready and they were kind enough to refill it on my way out! Iced coffee was solid, burrito was great - just the right size, not overwhelmingly large, but good for the price. Especially loved the atmosphere, could easily imagine going and hanging out with my laptop and chatting with the folks who work there.
(4)Jenny J.
This place is fantastic and the service is very friendly and nice. A little expensive - but the quality is great. Also a great place to study or catch up with people.
(4)Alisha M.
Exceptional service !! Great place !!! The peppermint cocoa was a nice treat !!! The owners are AMA-ZING !!!
(5)William G.
This place is absolutely amazing! I live down the street from this cafe so I stop by regularly. After my first visit the owners knew my name and always went out of their way to take care of me. It's like the cheers bar where everybody knows your name. The food is fantastic! Everything is fresh and homemade. You will feel right at home here in this cafe. I've gone and spent hours just hanging in their lounge area reading. I'd say it's the perfect neighborhood cafe.
(5)Sara B.
GROSS! Order: Turkey panini with avocado and swiss. Flatbread pizza with pesto, chicken and sun-dried tomatoes. What I got: oil soaked bread covered in mayo and super gross turkey lunch meat. The flatbread pizza was dripping in grease...to the point that the oil ran down your hand when you ate it. To top all the nasty food, it was 20$. INSANE, won't be returning.
(1)Philip B.
I had been to 2Schae a couple times before this weekend and had always been impressed, but the service I got this weekend set it over the top. Had a group of 6 friends in from out of town and brought them in on a Sunday morning during the rush. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate my large group even though they were dealing with their peak hours. My friends loved it and it was a perfect capstone to their weekend, and I owe that to the great service. 2Schae has earned my business from here forward. You cannot beat the personal touch. Check it out!
(5)Stephanie S.
Not bad! I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get out of the house and do some reading and eating! Don't you just love lazy Sundays? Anyway, the place itself is really cute. It's connected to the apartment complex next door, but that doesn't take away from the atmosphere at all. There are tons of chairs and tables, and if you're lucky (I wasn't) you can even snag a comfy couch to sit on! I ordered a vanilla soy latte, which was pretty tasty and totally necessary for this caffeine queen. I also went with their "adult" grilled cheese, which might be the tastiest grilled cheese I've ever had the pleasure of eating! It had thinly sliced apples, two types of cheese, and bacon. Oh my word. This was so delicious! It was served with chips, which tasted like lays. Whatever. I'm all about the sandwich, anyway! Service here was friendly and welcoming, and they have free wi-fi. Just ask for the code at the counter.
(4)Angela S.
Good food and a really friendly and comfortable atmosphere earned 2Schae it's 5 stars from me. My mom and I ate here, with both of us getting hot tea and her getting toast and fruit ad myself getting the spicy southwest wrap. The fruit was super fresh and there was a variety of types and the southwest wrap I got was great - spicy with a ton of flavor and the same quality of fresh tasting food. The tortillas strips in the wrap were a great touch and not soggy at all - a good sign that it was made to order! Food gets four stars but the wonderful owners and cozy feel kick up the rating for me. One suggestion - I think the chai lattes are terrible and have no flavor, but this is so variable brand by brand so I do not want to trash any other part of the venue or menu based on the chai. Something bolder, even if it is sweet (I prefer very spicy chai but many people do not) would be much appreciated
(5)Caleb B.
great place to get a cup of coffee and study or relax. they have free wi-fi. If you are going to eat, the sandwiches are very nice, and the sauces are made from scratch. Friendly people and they serve breakfast all day.
(5)Hao X.
This place is really cute! Today is rainy and wet and just not a good day to get myself out of bed and to school. I wanted to eat breakfast/brunch with by my boyfriend and he was trying to get me to go do work. We decided we needed to go some place close and quick. We got an umbrella and walked to 2Schae in the rain, against some wind, and despite the cold. Walking inside, my glasses immediately fogged over. They have a decent sized menu with various sandwiches and a nice looking coffee machine. My bf got a Cali Sandwich and I got the BLT. I also ordered a latte. He ordered a banana peanut butter shake. Everything was tasty and totaled about 25 bucks. Could be a bit cheaper, could also be more expensive. There were some students sitting around; a few people came in from the apartment building; and a mother with her two small sons were seated at a table nearby. I was enjoying my food and my company but otherwise bored as the mother and sons were leaving. One boy said, "But I need some water!" The mother replied, "That's good because there's plenty outside!" It made me, my boyfriend, and the owner laugh. I like this place because it's cute, cozy, and the food is decent. The owners live in the neighborhood and the people who come in and out are part of the community.

2Schae Cafe saves my life once again! I woke up this morning to find close to 8-9 inches of snow on the ground, and my car was completely plowed in to its spot on the side of the road. It then occurred to me that I had five different things in my kitchen: spinach, chocolate chips, tortillas, soy milk, and two week old strawberries. Unfortunately there is no combination of those items that could possibly make a breakfast, so I bundled up and went a block over to 2Schae. I walked in and both Don & Lisa greeted me by first name (I swear these two are the best) and I found a little spot by the window that was just perfect for working and eating breakfast. I am happiest sitting inside of a coffee shop while watching the snow outside, which is a good thing since St. Louis is just getting pounded this winter. They handed me a mug which I quickly filled with coffee, and a few minutes later I had a plate of eggs & cheese, hash browns, and wheat toast sitting right in front of me. I've never been so happy to see breakfast! These people put their heart and soul into their cafe and it shows. Sitting here working I've already seen maybe 15-20 people from the neighborhood stop by for a coffee and some conversation. Doesn't get much better!
(5)Jacob K.
I made my first visit today after a long run in Forest Park. All I got was a yogurt parfait to go, but it was really good, the service was very friendly and fast. The people eating in all seemed to be enjoying themselves and the menu looked good.
(5)Margaret L.
Totally adorable place for a low-key breakfast or lunch (or brunch! get creative!). I FINALLY got around to actually trying their food (I've stopped by and grabbed a coffee on a few occasion by virtue of their proximity to my apt). The service is top-notch, and the food is delicious. It's one of those neighborhood joints that make you feel like you could be a regular, and you can be confident that the couple who runs this place would know your name and your usual order. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sun dried tomatoes and avocado, and it was really good. I would definitely come back here, get a coffee and a sandwich and work on my computer, as they have amazing, amply-pillowed window seats with high tables. The menu has all types of options, so it's likely you'll find something that appeals to you. However, the food is pretty basic, nothing fancy. It's like when you go to your friend's house and their mom is a really awesome cook. So: casual, comfortable, good food and a homey vibe. I'm happy to give these people my business because they're SO KIND and they seem like they love what they do.
(4)K. P.
This place is one of my favorite STL lunch and brunch spots. There is a plethora of healthy options, including omelettes (egg whites are always an option), salads, light smoothies, and healthy wraps loaded with veggies. There are also plenty of indulgent items like a loaded breakfast burrito and french toast. Breakfast is served all day. Lisa and Don are the owners. They are so friendly and genuinely like their customers. It is always a pleasant experience stopping in here for lunch. They have free WiFi and good coffee.
(5)Jen K.
Great local cafe. Very friendly owners who work the counter. Had the French toast and chai tea latte which were both excellent. Everything is cooked to order. You can eat inside at one of the comfy benches, couches or tables or get your order to go. Definitely will be returning to try more dishes.

I LOVE 2Schae Cafe. Don and Lisa are very sweet and they make sure to get to know you. It really has a community vibe to it. The breakfast here is always delicious. The breakfast burrito is perfect. This is a great spot to get brunch and study in their lounge area or meet up with a friend. I would definitely suggest it!

I like it here. I've been to 2Schae a few times for coffee on the run, and have to say it's probably the best cup of coffee I've enjoyed in town. Although the best fresh coffee award probably goes to Northwest in CWE, the finished product here has been extremely satisfying every time I've been. The environment inside is pleasant, not at all like it looks from the outside. A large bar/kitchen area is planted in the center, splitting the area into two usable spaces for work or play. The proprietors are friendly and seem to appreciate your business. I look forward to future visits.

I moved to the Central West End six years ago looking for a place that I could become a regular and walk in and order "the usual." 2 Schae has filled that need in my life, and more. The cafe is worth it for the personal treatment you can get from Don and Lisa Schaeffer (the titular 2 Schaes). There is no other establishment in St. Louis that I can go to and feel as welcome as I feel here. The food and hot drinks are served in generous portions and everything I've tried has been delicious. I tend to go for my favorites. For breakfast, the 2Schae toast and the French Toast are both great ways to start the day. On weekends, they have ridiculously fluffy pancakes, served with your choice of filling. For lunch, nothing beats the Big Apple, their grilled cheese with bacon and apple inside. Eat here, you won't be sorry.

This place is owned and operated by Lisa and Don Schaefer (you see where the name of this place "2Schae" comes? genious!). They are SUPER HAPPY + SUPER NICE Couple. They know everyone who walks into the door and welcome them with big smile and cheerful attitude!! When you are there, pleeeaaase try their SOUP! I tried different kind and every single ones were excellent!!! Also, if they have chocolate cake, try a slice.... It'll take you to heaven. I just love this place!

Headed here in the mid-morning for a simple breakfast before walking to the zoo with a friend from out of town. I just got a bagel and iced coffee, but it hit the spot (I hate eggs, which really puts a damper on breakfast foods). The cinnamon raisin bagel was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The iced coffee, however, was yum-o. Definitely approve. Service was nice & the I love the seating and decor...so adorable. Their evening hours are disappointing, and they should definitely make the cafe more visible (e.g. more visible signage). I bet a lot of people pass right by without knowing it's there.

Nice neighborhood cafe. Husband and wife own and run. Friendly people who care about customer satisfaction and repeat business.

In my part-time quest to find businesses within walking distance of my apartment, I stumbled upon 2Schae Cafe one early evening and figured I'd give it a try since I haven't heard anything about it outside of Yelp. The 2Schae's is located the corner of Union and Pershing. Looks like a typical little cafe on the outside and looks quite inviting. I stepped in and it was pretty nice. While it's not the size of Kayak's it has the feel of a smaller coffee shop. The thing that blows me away about this place is the lounge area. The couches and home like setting really looks pretty nice. I almost wanted to take my shoes off and stay awhile but I digress. The food and menu options looked pretty good. I can't vouch for the food since I didn't have any. The menu looked like you could get a decent breakfast or lunch here. The coffee choices seemed pretty basic quite honestly. Compared to Coffee Cartel and Kayak's, it's really plain here. The coffee it's self was actually ok. Nothing incredible or mind blowing. All and all I thought this place was enjoyable if not plain. It's not as populated as Kayak's or Coffee Cartel so you might actually be able to get your work done if you come here. Plus the people who work here are some of the friendliest I've come across which makes returning a lot easier. So it's quiet, unpopulated and ok coffee. That spells productivity to me!

My boyfriend and I keep going back and wish we had time to go more. Recently I had the Cuban hot sandwich and it was delicious! I agree with the other reviews, the owners are the best part of this place, but the actual restaurant is great for spending an afternoon with your laptop or a book or for running in for a coffee refill in between errands. All their food is freshly prepared and is always delicious.

After two days in a row, I'm loving this coffee place just around the corner! Being in STL for almost 4 months, I was a bit intimidated by the outside decor (it looked "pricey") to walk in and try a drink. Now, I can casually stroll in with confidence and order my ultimate favorite drink: a hot chai tea latte. What's even more amazing, is that I get honest-to-goodness service and a delicious chai tea latte for a super-duper price. I haven't had their food yet, except their cream cheese brownie (HIGHLY suggest it warmed) perfectly fit my sweet tooth craving today. I have to agree with previous reviews that the couch area is awesome. and it's such a nice touch to have a photo album close by with a mapped-wall with pins on different places all over the world where customers are from. Everything looks so clean and yet homelike. if anyone knows the chill places to be, they're in this shop. There seems to always be someone in this shop, sitting outside or on the comfy stools inside. 2S would get a perfect 5 stars but they're only open til 8pm on certain weekdays and 4pm on weekends. The espresso drink menu may not be large, but they know how to make them well. I'll try to curb my spending but it's so hard to not get their chai teas on the way to start my day!

We arrived at 2Schae today sweaty, hungry and with a 3 month old child. The service was amazing with the husband & wife team and the food was really fantastic. The menu is varied enough that we all enjoyed a great meal and they went out of their way to accommodate us. They were so social yet not intruding. An extra kudos for the selection of hot sauces! Great work, we'll be back!

2Schae is a scrumptious sandwich oasis in an area of town that is generally devoid of eateries. Although the wifi was busted when last I visited, good food, pleasant service, and an awesome sidewalk cafe round out solid experience.

The owners make the difference btw a mediocre and great eatery. Fortunately for this place, the owners are almost always here. I always get the New York Sophisticate. This eggs with lox and salmon, topped with capers. They have free wifi, but one must remind them to turn it on. They have a nice lively atmosphere in a great location. Bicycle rack across the street. Bring your dog for a treat.

I happened to be in town this weekend and after church, I stopped in for brunch here. What a nice place this was! The food was excellent (stop in for Pancake Frenzy over the weekends), the service was friendly, and the coffee was hot and tasty. I'm not a local, but I can certainly recommend them for brunch and coffee.

This is a great restaurant with a wonderful family feel. You can get carryout or eat in and the food is always fresh and tastes homemade. Excellent restaurant and excellent service! One of our favorites in the CWE area.

Love this place so much I wrote a review for my Hospitality Class this past spring... 2 Schae' Café 275 Union Blvd St Louis MO 63108 314-361-5333 2schaecafe.com Interview with Don Schaefer, Owner The space of 2 Schae' Café is well appropriate for what they have to offer at their location. It is a very comfortable setting in which to sit and relax. Their web site states: "2Schae Café is the perfect neighborhood hangout where everyone knows your name or soon will. Come to people watch, meet with friends, or get to know your neighbors better and, of course, enjoy a latte and any number of our delicious menu items. Owned and operated by Lisa and Don Schaefer, 2Schae Café opened its doors on September 17th, 2008." I met with Don and a Friday afternoon upon his request. He is a very busy man and was taking a moment to speak with me. I explained to him my class project and my experience in the food service industry and what I was in school to do. I guess he felt comfortable with me as he went ahead with the interview. It was a fairly chilly day and over cast so no one was really using the patio they had set up to hold 20 people. But business was popping and we did not waste any time before getting to the interview. I had prepared for the interview and did back ground with the thought of this being a coffee house. When asked Don said he ran 2 Schae Café with his wife Lisa and that they had 6 employees counting he and his wife. While I was waiting on Don to sit down with me, I heard him talking to a customer and one of his employees and the art decorating 2 Schae Café was supplied by her. The place had a feeling of familiarity and being home. I was to discover in my interview that Don and Lisa lived in the neighborhood and this was how they chose their location. For the last 500 years people have been opening coffee houses or cafes in their neighborhoods beginning with, "The Ottoman chronicler brahim Peçevi reports the opening of the first coffeehouse in Istanbul: Until the year 962 [1555], in the High, God-Guarded city of Constantinople, as well as in Ottoman lands generally, coffee and coffee-houses did not exist. About that year, a fellow called Hakam from Aleppo and a wag called Shams from Damascus came to the city; they each opened a large shop in the district called Tahtakale, and began to purvey coffee." So Don and Lisa have entered a very old profession where people have gathered to discuss life, politics, and work. Don was fairly proud of his business and his biggest wish he stated several time as we spoke was that he would like to be known as a fair man and treated people right. He lives by Christian principles and it is evident as I have observed his dealings with his customers. Even ones who have moved from the neighborhood are treated like old friends when they come to visit. One came in prior to our interview that had not been in 2 Schae Café since they remodeled and enlarged their dining area to hold 40 people. Don and Lisa are part of the neighborhood and it is evident in the support they receive from the neighborhood. He felt that the best advertising one could get is word of mouth and providing great service. For centuries coffee houses or cafes have been places to gather as I stated prior and this is documented, "The 17th Century French traveler Jean Chardin gave a lively description of the Persian coffeehouse scene: People engage in conversation, for it is there that news is communicated and where those interested in politics criticize the government in all freedom and without being fearful, since the government does not heed what the people say. Innocent games... resembling checkers, hopscotch, and chess, are played. In addition, mollas, dervishes, and poets take turns telling stories in verse or in prose. The narrations by the mollas and the dervishes are moral lessons, like our sermons, but it is not considered scandalous not to pay attention to them. No one is forced to give up his game or his conversation because of it. A molla will stand up in the middle, or at one end of the qahveh-khaneh, and begin to preach in a loud voice, or a dervish enters all of a sudden, and chastises the assembled on the vanity of the world and its material goods. It often happens that two or three people talk at the same time, one on one side, the other on the opposite, and sometimes one will be a preacher and the other a storyteller." In today's modern coffee houses or cafes we still find it a place to exchange ideas and discuss life. With today's coffee houses or cafes doing this in this manner, "One of the original uses of the cafe, as a place for information exchange and communication, was reintroduced in the 1990s with the Internet café or Hotspot (Wi-Fi). The spread of modern style cafes to many places, urban and rural, went hand in hand with computers. Computers and Internet access in a contemporary.... (for complete text of this paper, contact me)

I kinda love everything about this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the location-- it's the complete package. The menu is diverse and affordable, and its corner location in the stately Congress apartment building almost tricks you into believing you're in a cozy neighborhood cafe on the Upper West Side. My only gripe is that they really should get a better sign-- a nice projecting sign would really make the place more noticeable (it's easy to miss if you're not looking), and it would also add a bit of charm to the corner.

My boyfriend and I were planning to get brunch somewhere else and passed by 2Schae on the way. It's close to where we live in CWE and on the corner in a nice quiet neighborhood with plenty of street parking. It was a rare cool summer day and perfect for outdoor lunch. The owners are a husband and wife team and very nice people. You can tell they love what they do. We had sandwiches, soup, a smoothie and coffee. Everything was fresh and delicious. We'll be back again.

Just had breakfast here this past Sunday. Yummy mocha latte, delicious breakfast burrito, friendly service, and I was able to sit under an umbrella outside enjoying the beautiful fall morning.

Neat little spot for coffee and a spot of something to eat. A bit disappointed in saran wrapped pastry offerings, but a breakfast burrito--not too huge--hit the spot.

This place is a gem in the neighborhood. Located at the corner of Union and Pershing, it has patio seating on the less busy Pershing side that is perfect for chilling out on Saturday and Sunday mornings with the dog and newspaper. The service is excellent as is this food, which isn't super-fancy, but great care is obviously taken when choosing the produce that goes into it. They serve bottomless coffees and iced tea, have free wifi, and a comfortable decor. Overall, this is a great little cafe that folks should stop in at if they want a coffee or light meal.

I'm kind of surprised by the review from Trisha. When I visited the cafe, the owner (?? I'm assuming), seemed very nice and did not try to hurry us, although he was closing soon. I got a BLT sandwich that was pretty yummy. I didn't stay very long at the cafe, so I don't have much other that that to say, but it seems like a place that would be good to go with friends for a lazy afternoon. :)
